Art of the Upgrade

Princess Produces Luxury in All Sizes, Starting with the F45

Let’s face it, most cruising couples start out in “value” brands, getting their feet wet and learning about boating before betting big on a larger, or higher quality yacht. That makes perfect sense. Others jump right in and purchase a premium brand like Princess from the get-go. The Bluewater team has seen it all and is focused on helping our customers into the quality new boat brands that can always be counted on for a first-class ownership experience.

An early recognition of quality matched the Bluewater and Viking families in 1985, and by way of Princess and Viking’s distribution partnership in North America, Bluewater has enjoyed working with Princess Yachts for more than a decade now. Bluewater General Manager Wyatt Lane points out, “the partnership between Viking, Princess and Bluewater has been a huge success for all three companies serving the cruising market in the Mid-Atlantic.”

With demand for Princess Yachts continuing to soar, and their customer base growing, the company remains focused on building every new model without compromise, no matter the size. Their full line of luxury motoryachts are available from 35 to 95 feet, and each one embodies the same flawless fit and finish and luxury appointments throughout. The brand enjoys a loyal following of repeat customers, often stepping up or down through the size range throughout their boating lifetime. Knowing this, Princess Yachts and their design and engineering partners keep the product cycle fresh, unveiling new models every two to four years. The consistency allows customers to move fluidly through the series, receiving the latest new features, while the design philosophy and systems implementation remain familiar.

The Newest Princess

When it comes time to upgrade your motoryacht, it may not be necessary to move up in boat size to achieve more space, refinement, or quality. That’s because innovative companies like Princess are packing more features and versatility than ever before into these smaller footprints.

Making her North American debut at the 2021 Palm Beach International Boat Show, the all-new F45 is now the entry model into the Flybridge line. Although the smallest in the series, Princess inked a whole new design and layout for this boat to make it feel much bigger than the specs dictate.

The F45 boasts a full beam master, a feature unheard of in this size class, with an additional VIP stateroom forward and a second head. On the main deck, large sliding glass doors open to create a seamless entertaining space between the cockpit and aft galley arrangement. A dinette and settee complement the lower helm station to starboard on the main deck.

Versatile Configurations

“The design innovations Princess has employed in the F45 provide a space and layout that can’t be found elsewhere in this class,” said Bluewater Sales Professional Chuck Meyers. Princess further maximized space in the cockpit with electrically sliding transom seating that extends the length of the cockpit for unrivaled main deck space. When space for a tender or water toys is required on the generous swim platform, the seating can be adjusted forward by nearly three feet.

The flybridge extends aft to provide a seating area with a teak dining table which complements an L-shaped-settee forward to port, adjacent the upper helm station. The flybridge also features a console that conceals a sink, electric grill and chilled compartment. Another grill and sink area are hidden beneath a hydraulic lift-assisted hatch aft of the cockpit seating that is accessed from the swim platform.

Combine these features with the full galley on the main deck and you have three unique spots for food preparation across two levels. Dining areas also come in threes: one open air on the flybridge, one shaded in the cockpit and one climate controlled adjacent to the lower helm. An example of the tremendous use of space for a 45-foot boat.

Guests can stretch out on the bow sun pad with reclining back rests and cup holders, or retreat from the sun to the spacious cockpit dinette or main deck seating areas. With so many spots to relax and retreat aboard the F45, owners and guests should never experience the feeling of being over-crowded.

The twin Volvo Penta IPS600 engines make maneuvering the F45 in close quarters a low-anxiety experience. Meyers points out it is the pod drives that allow the engines to be mounted farther aft which has aided in creating the large spaces of the interior, including the full beam master.

Engineering ingenuity has helped the F45 feature luxurious accommodations and impressive space in the entertaining areas without sacrificing comfort or wavering from Princess Yachts’ world-renowned fit and finish. Her full-length hull windows and sweeping lines, from the bow to the upper helm and aft to the massive flybridge deck and cockpit overhang, make the F45 look sleek and stunning at speed or rest.

The F45 is proof positive that upgrading to a Princess Yacht is an experience unmatched by competing motoryacht brands, and the Bluewater team looks forward to introducing you to the exceptional fit, finish and build quality of these yachts.
