General Description
In the summer of 2014 the process to transform this classic vessel started with it basically being virtually disassembled. Engines were removed. The hull was thoroughly inspected and any imperfections were addressed. All the thru hulls were relocated and new bronze fittings installed. The tanks had been replaced previously (estimated age, 2003) and those under the cockpit deck (which were in good condition) remained in place, the two saddle tanks in the engine room were removed, inspected, then recoated and re-plumbed. Engine beds were checked and refinished. Dripless shaft logs and rudder shaft seals were installed. The original hull portholes were removed and filled. The spray/chine rails were repaired as needed (they are full length), the keel was removed, the hull which had been fiberglass coated had more glass added for strength on the chine rail. The hull then was faired and prepped for repaint. There are cockpit spray rails covered with stainless strike plates about a foot above the waterline. The bridge deck was redesigned with the brow being rebuilt with closed-cell foam core as well as the deck seating. The interior cabinetry was made with Okoume Marine ply, fiberglass, and teak veneer.
The finished project delivered a modern, stylish, and high-quality interior and bridge deck on a thoroughly refinished Classic Carolina hull. The first impression factor was raised dramatically with refinishing of the teak transom, teak coverboards (which were both new in '06), and the addition of a finely fitted and varnished teak helm pod. She also has a faux finished teak toe rail and a varnished bridge deck cap rail. Accented by varnished teak ladderback Bluewater helm and companion chairs and a Bluewater teak rocket launcher. The hull is light blue with a navy blue boot stripe and light grey bottom paint. The hull has a sharp entry forward with a subtle Carolina Flair, at her transom a notable tumblehome, and a classic broken shearline with hull side engine room vents. Decks and deckhouse are white with teak decking on the cockpit and bridge-deck soles. The finished project left the boatyard in February of 2016 and has seen very light usage since. The boat presents well and will make its next owner proud.

Mechanical and Engine Room
The Cummins 6BTA 5.9 inline-6 cylinder engines were New in 2006, they were removed from the boat in 2014 during this vessels refit period in Stuart, FL. While out of the boat they were partially disassembled for a thorough inspection which included new hoses, cooling system servicing, turbo updating, and complete painting. In 2019 the port motor was noted to have some differences and during the course of another full cooling system service to both motors, it was determined that the best solution was to overhaul the port motor. In late 2020 the starboard motor developed an oil leak and upon further investigation to cure it, the motor was removed from the boat and final result was that engine got a full overhaul. These motors have ZF IRM 220-A transmissions, 1.75:1 reduction gears. V-cast bronze struts, 1 3/4" stainless alloy shafts, 4-blade Nibral Michigan DQX props. There are a spare pair of Hi-Torq, 4-blade Nibral props. Bronze cast Spade-style rudders. Engines have a Walker Air-Sep crankcase ventilation system/air filters. Engine room entry from cockpit centerline, hatch when raised is supported by stainless gas spring shock.
Engine hours estimated as of June 2023, both motors have had complete overhauls with less than 400 running hours since. Port motor was overhauled before the Starboard and there is approximately 75 hour spread between the two engines.
There are four aluminum fuel tanks that were reported new in about 2003. The main tanks are under the cockpit deck and feed their respective motors (there is also a crossover valve). They are reported to be 125 gallons each and in the engine room there is a sight gauge for knowledge of their level. The two forward saddle tanks are storage only and can be transferred to the aft tanks via electric fuel transfer pumps (2015 Marco Mate x2, 12V).
From this point to the end of this section, all equipment is 2014 or newer:
- Fiberglass linear mufflers with surge tubes
- Dual Racor primary fuel filters, 75900 Max with restriction gauges, for main engines, single Racor for generator
- All fuel lines replaced
- Fiberglass Verna Lift muffler for generator
- Sea Star Hydraulic Steering System, 2 stations
- Glendinning single lever electronic control system with engine synchronizer and manual backup controls
